Some helpful homework productivity tips

Homework is a necessity. Homework is a way of life and no matter how much a student may complain and whinge about the amount and type of homework they have to complete, it has to be done so the sooner it is done the better. But there are ways to make your homework activity more productive. Here are just some of those ways.

Get the best environment

You will be amazed at how more efficient and productive you will become when tackling your homework if you have the right sort of chair in which to sit. Simply having a good posture and sitting in an ergonomic chair can mean a big difference to your productivity. Likewise clean up your room. All those jokes about your parents complaining about your untidy room have a serious message. A tidy room makes for a tidy mind. And have your desk well organized. Get rid of the clutter. Make sure you have pens and pencils and whatever digital equipment you need easily found and easily stored.

Get rid of interruptions

If you have friends or family members who think it's cool to drop in and interrupt you, find a way to stop this. If you have a television or other distracting items of equipment in your work area, turn them off or, if you're tempted to use them, either move them elsewhere or find another workspace. You will never be genuinely productive if you have things to interrupt and distract you.

Get your planning and organization up to scratch

If you simply open your bag and take out the first folder and then start work you will not be productive in tackling your homework. You need an overview. You need a plan. You need to make a list of the tasks you need to perform and you need to give them a ranking. You need to make a list with the most important task at the top and the least important task at the bottom. Then you work through that list. Make sure you have an excellent filing system. Whether you do this with a hard copy or online or in some other digital format, make sure it is well organized, easy to find and to follow and that you have a backup copy in a safe place in case of emergency. There are even software programs, free software programs, which help you organize your filing system and plan your homework schedule.

Look at the clock

By giving yourself a timetable, you are able to allocate a certain amount of time to complete a particular task. Note the time when you start and stay at that task for the anticipated time. In other words work to the clock.
