We ended last year second best.  A wise man once said “If you’re not first, you’re last”…

The fall is winding down, and our team is taking shape.  With an exciting game at Lindenwood, a HUGE disappointment against Illinois in the following tournament, and then a big win against DIII Trine, this season has been a roller coaster to say the least.  Our freshman class is talented, and 3-4 will play a big part in our success this year.  Even better are the upperclassmen that didn’t start last year, that are ready to fill important roles, as well as the DIII transfers that will make an immediate impact.  We have gotten a lot of really good looks from everyone, and I think this is by far the best team Dayton has ever fielded.

Key players that we had arrive for us this year (in no particular order):

Gerry Jehling (A/M)- Transfer from Roanoke (DIII), attended Lafayette HS/STL, MO (brother of AA, Christian)
Connor Carroll (M) – Transfer from Lynchburg (DIII), attended Archbishop Moeller/Cin, OH
Andrew Urban (M) – Archbishop Moeller/Cin, OH (brother of AA, Alex)
William McCormick (A) – MICDS/STL, MO
Jeff Haberman (G) - Hoover HS/N.Canton, OH
Brendan Power (D) – Archbishop Stepinac/White Plains, NY

These guys can play ball, and they fit into what we do very well.

I am looking forward to our local non-MCLA matchup with University of Cincinnati, which is always physical and fun.  Even more, I can’t wait for the Spring.  We have a tough road ahead of us.  How good are we???  Depends on which game you saw this Fall.  If you saw us against Trine, or Lindenwood, we’re pretty good.  If you saw us against Illinois, we weren’t good at all…Let’s see how the Cincinnati game goes, and that’s how good we’ll be, since that will be our last game ’till spring.

Things will be quiet for a while…I may have to blog about my Bengals. If you are interested in blogging for CollegeLax, contact Sonny Pieper.
