minnesota_duluthFor Immediate Release – UMD Lacrosse

Duluth, MN. – After finishing the 2009 season with a 13-4 record which included one of the toughest out of conference schedules in the country, winning their 12th Upper Midwest Lacrosse League (UMLL) title and making their 8th appearance in the MCLA tournament, the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s lacrosse team will be back at it again with a challenging schedule in 2010.

The 2010 Bulldog schedule includes 7 UMLL Conference matchups and 8 contests against out of conference teams. The out of conference matches the bulldogs against 4 teams who were at nationals in 2009 including University of Colorado, who the Bulldogs lost to in the quarterfinals, and University of Michigan the two time defending national champions.

The University of Minnesota Duluth opens the regular season on Jan. 30th to take on the Saint Cloud State Huskies. Two weeks later on Feb. 13th, the Bulldogs will play Mankato State University.

UMD then begins its out of conference games at the Chris Jenkins Memorial Tournament on the University of Minnesota campus Feb. 20th and 21st against Pittsburgh and Lindenwood.

On Feb. 26th the Bulldogs will play University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee before heading into a stretch of out of conference competition.

The out of conference matchups will entail three road trips. The first trip to Arizona will include matchups against Arizona State University on Mar. 15th, Grand Canyon University an NCAA Div. II program on Mar.17th, and Cal – Berkley on Mar. 20th.  For their second trip UMD will meet the defending National Champion University of Michigan on Mar.27th at a neutral site in the Chicago, Illinois area.  The Bulldogs will conclude their out of conference games with a trip to Colorado to take on Colorado State University on Apr. 9th and  Colorado University on Apr. 11th.

The remaining UMLL play begins on March 17th when the Bulldogs will face UMLL rivals The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and an April 18th contest with Marquette University. UMD will then play Iowa State University on Apr. 24th, and University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point on Apr. 25th to wrap up the regular season and begin to prepare for the conference tournament.
