BYU-Utah Lacrosse Classic set to take place this weekend

Salt Lake City (April 21, 2009) –The BYU/Utah Lacrosse Classic will take place on Friday at Juan Diego High School in Draper, Utah.
The last time the Utes and Cougars met was on April 17, 2008 at Juan Diego High School. BYU jumped out to an early lead and led 8-1 at halftime. Utah held BYU to three goals in the second half and managed to score two goals to make the final score 11-3 in favor of BYU.
Utah (6-6, 2-2) is coming off a 18-1 win over in-state rival Utah State on Monday. No. 4 BYU (13-3, 3-1) is also coming off a win over Utah State by the score of 23-3.
As a warm up for the main event, the Jordan boy’s lacrosse team will face Bountiful in a rematch of the 2008 Utah High School Lacrosse League Division A Championship. Bountiful was able to steal a 12-6 win over the Beetdiggers last year but Jordan will be seeking to avenge their loss this Friday. Both teams are undefeated in the state of Utah coming into what could be a preview of the 2009 UHSLL Division A championship game.
The Jordan versus Bountiful game will start at 5 p.m. followed by the Utah versus BYU game at 7:30 p.m. Admission for both games will be $8.
All four schools are encouraging people to come out and support their teams in an effort to reach an attendance goal of 5,000 people.
