Fire up Chips: Back in Black
After a short hiatus in the schedule, we took on the No. 1 ranked Michigan Wolverines this past weekend amid a packed house at Oosterbaan Field House in Ann Arbor.
Coming into the game, our emotions were high. Having not played since a February 21st game versus GVSU, we have had a long time to sit, and sulk over that loss.
We debuted our black uniforms. But we knew that Michigan would be a tough task for us in the CCLA despite the new threads as we attempt to climb the CCLA ladder.
The top ranked Wolverines came out as expected in that game putting up some quick goals, and making sharp passes. The first half was a tough one with Michigan gaining a big 10-1 advantage at the break. We had been in this position before defensively and we knew that the second half had to be a solid one.
We had to dig our way back. Head coach Brad Thomas summed it up the game by saying, “That game was an example of the tale of two halves. We played a very sluggish first half, and dug ourselves a (big) hole,” said Thomas.
The second half was even tougher, With Michigan taking 54 shots through out the game, compared to our 22, most of the game was spent on our defensive end. We were able to get on the board with three more second half goals – Senior R.J. Burr (#12), and Senior Ryan Parker (#58), and Junior Darren Rivard (#32).
Despite the loss, we have a long road trip ahead of us to Boston. Taking on highly ranked Boston College, Northeastern, and Boston University from the Pioneer League, we have a tough road ahead of us.
It will be nice to get away from the pressures of school and focus on lacrosse for the weekend. Looking forward to some east coast competition, and working on getting our way into the league playoffs. See ya’ on the road.
