The Northeastern University Huskies have been selected as the next CollegeLAX Team of the Week following a three-win tour in the state of Georgia. The Huskies, now 3-1, topped out-of-conference SELC opponents Georgia, Georgia Tech and Central Florida during their stay in the South.

The games were the Huskies’ first under recently promoted head coach Joe Brady, who replaced former PCLL Coach of the Year Tim Gray as the man in charge of the NU sideline last week. The two flipped roles for the games, with Gray assisting Brady over the three game span.

“Having Tim there has been a great help,” said Brady. “This week was sort of his last ‘hurrah.’” Coach Gray will be leaving the Huskies in April for a job opportunity in Orange County, California.

Brady said the weekend’s results came in spite of early adversity on the trip. “We lost two starters to injuries in the first 24 hours,” he said. The team’s ability to rebound with solid play off their bench proved pivotal in their success, Brady said. “Our bench players stepping up was a big positive for us.”

Brady said his team improved in each game and gave credit to his squad’s stingy defense, which held all three opponents in single digits scoring on the trip.

Coach Gray said with the team’s adaptation to their midseason coaching switch. ”Our guys have been coming together really well,” said Gray.

Gray said that even though he’ll be moving to the opposite side of the country he doesn’t expect to lose touch with the Huskies as their season progresses.

“I’ve been involved with the program since I started playing for the team in ‘97, so there’s no way I could drop it cold turkey,” said Gray. “I’ll definetly be keeping up with the guys and coach Brady,” said Gray.

The Huskies’ next opponent will be PCLL Division 2 Worcester Polytechnic Institute on March 27.
