Athletes Say “They Don’t Get Your Wind.”

I came across the cigarette advertisement (show below) recently while doing some research on the history of lacrosse in the State of Georgia.  I had to do a double-take when I saw lacrosse featured in the print ad.  Check the bottom left corner for All-America J. A. Brooks statement:

I smoke the Athlete’s Cigarette – Camels – and have for 5 years.  No matter how many I smoke, Camels never upset my nerves or get my wind.  That’s real mildness!

First things, first.  This will get my buddy Ethan Ritz riled up.  (The classic All American vs. All-America debate)

Quick Ethan – fire off an email to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and tell them that their 1935 print advertisement is wrong.  Maybe the will send you some old NASCAR decals or something.

Got a kick out of the uniform and equipment Mr. Brooks is wearing.  No face mask on the leather helmet that looks like a hat.  Maybe the helmet manufacturers should consider coming out with a new retro model.

Since these cigarettes are so mild, that athletes can smoke all they want…. Perhaps the MCLA should consider giving everyone a pack of cigarettes before their first game in Denver this year?  Maybe the champions get a full blown carton of cigs instead of a fancy shiny MCLA belt buckle?

On second thought, maybe not.  We are moving the event to thin air of the Mile High City.  Maybe just force Colorado and CSU players to smoke them to allow everyone else a fair advantage.
