BURNABY, BC (June, 10, 2008) – Co-Head Coaches Brent Hoskins & Jeff Cathrea have announced the 2008 summer rosters for the Burnaby Mountain Selects Elite Touring Teams. Entering their third season at the helm of the Selects, Hoskins & Cathrea continue to build one of Canada’s most acclaimed field lacrosse development programs, combining excellence on the field with academic achievement. The 2008 summer rosters feature 17 high school sophomores, 3 juniors, and 14 seniors.
The elite summer program consists of three on-field practices and seven hours of study hall each week in addition to a strict conditioning program. All sessions have been designed to follow the same collegiate template as Simon Fraser University’s men’s lacrosse program with the objective of best preparing young student-athletes to play at the NCAA or MCLA collegiate level.
In addition to a ten week practice schedule, each season consists of two major trips to top college recruiting tournaments throughout North America where the Selects face elite high-school aged competition from across the continent. In June, the Selects will travel to Denver, Colorado to compete at the University of Denver Team Camp and in August, the Selects will wrap up their season with a trip to Geneva, New York to compete at the Hobart College Team Camp. This summer’s tournaments combine to feature over 75 elite teams and college recruiters from approximately 100 top NCAA and MCLA institutions.
