The undefeated and No. 5 ranked Oregon Ducks host the Boise State Broncos this Saturday on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene. Game time is 1 p.m. The Ducks, 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League play, are coming off weekend wins over Montana and Gonzaga. The Broncos, 1-3 on the season and in league play, recently defeated Washington State for their first win of the season.

The two teams played each other twice last season, with Oregon taking the first tilt 20-5, and winning a post-season match 17-6. In 2006 the Ducks took a 22-4 win over the Broncos.

“I expect the Broncos to come into this game with a Fiesta Bowl mentality,” said Oregon Coach Ben Tiller, referring to the 2007 upset win for BSU’s football team. “They will be looking to knock us off using every play in the book, and we need to be ready for anything.”

SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES

Oregon will embark on an ambitious three game road trip over spring break, with games all against Top Ten teams. The out-of-conference games begin with a Saturday, March 22nd battle in Boulder with the Colorado Buffaloes. Colorado is ranked 10th in the latest Lax World MCLA Division I Poll. The Ducks travel to Greeley the next day to face Northern Colorado, now ranked 9th in the Lax World MCLA Division II Poll. The spring break road trip in the Rocky Mountains concludes with a showdown against Colorado State in Fort Collins. The Rams, ranked #2 in the nation, host Oregon on Tuesday, March 25th.

Oregon and Colorado State last met in the semi-finals of the 2007 MCLA Div. I National Lacrosse Championships in Dallas, with Oregon pulling out a narrow 9-8 overtime win.

“Oregon lacrosse has consistently pushed to have a challenging out-of-conference schedule, and this year is no exception,” said Tiller. “Traveling to Colorado to face some of the toughest competition in the nation will be a big challenge for our team. We will have to be at our very best to compete with the Colorado clubs. As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to face these teams and appreciate being included on their schedules.”
