Goals by Goalies

by Gooseguy10 » Sat Feb 06, 2010 4:36 pm

I was at the MSU-St. Cloud game in St. Cloud. In the 3rd quarter the St. Cloud goalie scored on fairly decent give and go. That was the first time I have ever seen a goalie score (live).I was wondering if there have ever been any other goals in the UMLL by scored by goalies?

Didn't Launert run the ball up and score at nationals in a consolation game a couple years back?

Not a UMLL game, but in a freshman playoff game the goalie from Eden Prairie scored from his own crease. He Gilmanned it on goal and the other goalie couldn't handle it. The coach said they coached him to do that and it was his second goal of the season doing the same thing!

IIRC, it was a one-goal game.

JL scored on a low to high laser about 12 yards out at Nationals two years ago against Florida State in Texas.

I'll put in a request to Sonny to see if we can get our own goaltender forum.

Great idea Lars :D

Launert's eyes were closed, I had front row viewing of this one. He also hurt himself as he shot it......priceless

Lance (sorry bud, I don't want to misspell your last name) from St. Olaf launched one from his crease that went in the goal. It was against Bethe. I believe the in house got credit for the goal, but I am not sure why that happened. The goalie might have stopped the shot, and then somehow knocked it in his own goal. Adam was coaching the game so maybe he can expand on it.

The in-home never gets credit for a goal (unless he scores it, of course). An own-goal is recorded as a "team goal."

I scored a "team goal" on myself twice in my career......does that count?
